A quality visual identity for your brand can go a long way in helping your business succeed. It only takes a few seconds for someone to form a first impression of your business without even realizing it. So, as you can see, ensuring time is taken to decide on what type of logo best meets the strategic needs of your business is crucial. Let's go over some basics.

The different Types of Logos

WORD MARKS

Perhaps the simplest type of logo, wordmarks utilize your company’s full name in text alone. Wordmarks can be handwriting, fancy calligraphy, a simple signature, or a customized typeface or font.

LETTER MARKS

More commonly referred to as monograms, lettermarks are also made up of text. However, they only utilize the initials of your brand, or just the first letter.Lettermarks are great for a brand whose name may be too long to use as a wordmark or difficult for people to pronounce.

BRAND MARKS

A brandmark utilizes only symbols, icons or an image, no text or type. Brandmarks make it easy for audiences to form a psychological connection to your brand. This is because our brains respond on a deeper and more emotional level to images rather than written text, that needs to be interpreted.

COMBINATION MARKS

Combining wordmarks with brandmarks, a combination mark creates flexibility for the use of either one of its elements across a variety of media. The key to a well-designed combination mark is that it looks just as good with the elements separate as it does with them together.
